Last year, the emergency room took care of 36,223 patients. Physicians performed 11,927 surgeries last year including inpatient and outpatient, and had 12,029 admissions overall. The federal government initiated a survey to patients in hospitals across the country last year. When asked if they would recommend a certain hospital to friends and family, the state average response was a 74% “yes.” 78% of Sky Ridge Medical Center patients responded that they would happily send friends and family to the hospital, beating the state average.

Sky Ridge employs 436 registered nurses and 2 licensed practical nurses.

They also provide an outlet for community learning in various medical fields. Classes are available covering childbirth and newborn care, nutrition and general health, spine and orthopedics and weight-loss, provided by local doctors who practice at the modern Medical Center. Since Sky Ridge emphasizes their modern technology integration, they offer online registration for all courses. They also offer free health screenings and health fairs. This past year, they hosted the popular 9News Health Fair in April to promote health awareness with free screenings and giveaways. They hold a “Tiny Toes Baby Fair” every August, a tradition started by the medical center in 2002 to help connect expectant mothers and families learn about pregnancy and connect with the right doctors and pediatricians for their care.

In 2008, the hospital added a geropsych unit to provide psychiatric care for seniors, a pain management unit and a new GI lab. In 2011, the medical center was proud to announce the new Airlife hangar. The hospital also has some of the best cancer survival rates in the country.
